The city has 12 churches, a weekly newspaper, 2 hardware stores, a medical clinic, printer, pharmacy, four grocery stores, 2 convenience stores, five restaurants, 2 service stations,2 barbershops, 2 auto service stores, and many other facilities. A new 180 bed retirement home is reaching capacity. The city is 16 feet below sea level. average temperature in the winter is 69 degrees with summer at 105 degrees fahrenheit. Holtsville has clean air, plenty of water, good sewer service, easy access to interstate 8, a freight rail connection, and low electricity rates. Holtsville has a variety of schools and civic, church, and fraternal organizations. These include the Masonic lodge, Sorooptimist club, Lions Club, Woman's club, V. F. W. ,American Legion, and many more. In January or February Hotville features the carrot festival with a parade and many activities. Hotville is a wonderful small town to live in. Many recreational activities are nearby from RV parks and golf courses, to off roading.

hounding, bird watching and exploring. In the city, there are parks, tennis courts, softball fields, a swimming pool, and barbecue and picnic facilities.
