Twenty miles south of Blythe,CA along the Colorado River you'll find the small town of Palo Verde, CA. (pop 600), On California State Highway 78 between the cities of Blythe to the north and Brawley to the south. The name Palo Verde comes from the Spanish meaning green stick just like the tree. A Glorious wild desert region is just west of Palo Verde,Hidden areas of california giant cactus & palo verde cactus abound. Giant areas for rock hunting . You'll find fire opals,gold,silver,agate and many other precious and semi precious stones. Fishing on the colorado river is excellent. Great boating can be had year round.
